Apathy’s a Tragedy & Boredom is a Crime
That topic about Shane’s WM opponent has me thinking, wondering if financially, as a pro wrestler, it’s worth it to go to the WWE
Atleast if you had namevalue beforehand.
The checks gotta be good, but compared to times past they probably pale in comparison. Especially with the Network messing with payoffs which is part of why Punk left, and I’m assuming part of why Neville walked out since he was King of theCruiserweights Pre-Shows and wasn’t really getting royalties off DVD sales as a result. Factor in the cost of travel, getting a fraction of merch sales compared to selling them independently and getting (I’m assuming) the lion’s share of the profit on something like Pro Wrestling Tees, being kept off shows which is a regular occurrence for SD stars, and being thrown into clusterfukk multiman matches where you get a fraction of the payoff.
It’d be an interesting spin topic to do and try and piece together numbers based off shoots and various interviews
Conceivably, I can see let’s say, Sami Zayn, leaving and making maybe more money and having more buzz outside the company right now than inside it, of course just blindly guessing at figures.
Lowkey, if All In is a success I could see it being a turning point. With WWE hoarding talent, WM spots being given to old dudes, McMahons, and celebrities, something’s gotta give. I’m assuming at a certain point, having your “dream job” just won’t cut it anymore
