High 8. I think outside of like 98-99, their work wasn’t the best and they got lapped quickly in-ring once the division shifted from Los Boriquas and the Headbangers to the Hardy Boyz and the Dudley Boyz. But their peak was at the hottest point in company history and they were among the top acts in the company, right alongside the likes of Austin and Taker. One of the few thrown together teams that jelled in the best ways possible, a feat they’ve been trying to recreate for 20 years since to mixed results, at best. The less said about their 2013/4 return, the better.

What thrown together tag team since the Outlaws have even come close to being as successful? I’ve been trying to think of teams and all I can think of are Team Hell No, Miz/Morrison, and The Bar, but even those teams, every individual person was already a defined character beforehand.

That’s actually a really good question. Most of the best thrown together teams came from that same era, Too Cool, the APA...another one I’m forgetting rn :russ: There’s been plenty of lower card teams that have done alright (Breezango, most of Cesaro’s tag teams, etc.) but ones that achieved the level of the NAO is tough. I can’t honestly think of one really.

the new age outlaws are the poster boys of 2 fairly unover wrestlers thrown together on a whim and being extremely over...they were the WWE's version of the hollywood blondes without the politics and the good matches...its saved both of their careers...it gave billy gunn his best gimmick of all time..even surpassing the smoking gunns era..because rockabilly went nowhere..and road dogg was the roadie brought in as jeff jarrett's lackey which should have killed his career dead lol...instead career wise he surpassed jarrett (and his father and brothers)..as a team they were gold in their primes..the matches though descended to routine shyt after they both realized the crowd was hooked road dogg says "oh you didnt know"..their legacy is the WWE have been trying to recreate a new age outlaws with mixed results since them
