You should add ending GOAT Angle's undefeated streak at RR 2000 to his accomplishments. :banderas: I enjoyed watching his ECW shyt via KaZaA, but he let Storm Front, KKKing, and JR style on him in the WWF. :francis: Him and Cole were a great announcing team together, surprisingly. He sucked in TNA.

Plus he was taking motherfukkers to Suplex City before it was cool.

Overall... I'll give him a 5.

ECW Taz was probably a 9. A pretty dope all around wrestler and talker, had a bunch of good and notable matches, and was a highlight of ECW. he looked like a badass, and carried himself as one.

WWE Tazzzzzz....ehhhh....probably like a 6. He basically had 1 peak year in the WWE, and it didn't last long. He had all the characteristics of ECW Taz, but booking was atrocious. Dude had an amazing debut making Angle tap, complete with an awesome entrance and theme....only to be feuding with Bossman and Prince Albert a couple months later, then just got tossed in the Hardcore division, when he could have been booked as a major player consistently. I guess it was his 5'9" size that accounted for that, but yet Rey Mysterio ended up as champ years later, so idk. Don't even get me started on that dumbass feud with Jerry Lawler :scust:sure, Lawler was still good on commentary then, and the crowd still loved him, but that was embarrassing to have both Lawler and JR get put over Tazz. he really should have been booked better in the WWE. He didn't even become IC or European champion. The tag team with Spike was meh. He became a very good commentator for a time, but his WWE career left a whole lot to be desired even way before the neck injury. Overall I give him a 7.

Also agree about the frequency of these topics. They make for great discussions and you should let them marinate more, to distract from the lame kliq stan threads and contrarian dudes beating their meat like when Vince watches old Brakus videos.

Mic work/promos: 7
-He could do great heel work on the mic and his promos matched his demeanor.

Personality/gimmicks: 8
-I always thought the towel over his head for his entrance was a great touch to his character. Although he was short for a wrestler, he still was able to carry himself as a rugged fighter who didn't take shyt from anyone.

Ring work (along with some of your favorite matches/feuds): 8
-I thought he was great in ECW and he made throwing suplexes into an artform.
Favorite matches/feuds: vs Bam Bam Bigelow, vs Jerry Lawler, vs Sabu, vs Kurt Angle (one of the best debut matches that I've seen)

Overall rating (which doesn't have to be an average of the above scores): 8
-His WWE run was one of the most demeaning degrading runs that I've ever seen. I won't even factor it into the score (although he got an amazing pop at the Royal Rumble 2000 against Kurt Angle and looked legit on that night to the WWE audience).

However, he was great in ECW and is an ECW Legend. He had entertaining matches and was a solid worker.

His gimmick was cool..not the Tazmaniac one though :mjlol:..promos were fine

Tazz wasn't a bad wrestler..he had good/great matches in ECW considering he was wrestling with a horrifically fukked up neck

but he was neutered big time in the WWE outside of squashing Angle and didn't stay in shape either

so 6 is about right for him

I enjoy the threads, wouldn't be a a bad idea to spread em out maybe 2 or 3 a week, to give more time to simmer and let discussion grow.

Tazz:

He clearly has a gift for gab as we've seen in his post wrestling career but I don't recall his mic work being anyhthing special. It was never bad - always very good and solid, but it was just that, nothing spectacular.

He was good enough in the ring... a little bit overrated. Great gimmick, great writing from Heyman to make him seem like a badass, but I never felt his matches were anything special. Good moveset but most of his matches seemed to be lacking psychology. He was one of the biggest beneficiaries of the environment Heyman created in ECW.

To me, 5/10 means he was halfway to being a perfect wrestler. So I can't possibly, in good conscience, give him a 5.

He was nice in the ring, nice on the mic, but wasn't very versatile, not a guy you could put in any company or any situation and he would still be as good or as big a deal as he looked in ECW. He fit a good role for hte time period and situation he was in, but that's it.

I would silo the two sides of his career but then I would have to for everyone.

Mic work - 8
He did a good job as coming across as a LEGIT tough guy and bad ass during his run. I was convinced that Austin and Hogan and them was dead meat if they ever crossed taz. BEAT ME IF YOU CAN, SURVIVE if i LET YOU is a GOAT catchphrase for real.

Personality / gimmicks - 7
Again, he had a supreme badass aura and he physically had no reason for that to work. It did.......until he came across a crew of people who were as BIG as him mentally and ALREADY estabished as badasses...he lost a lot of luster then.

Ring work - 7
His selling left a lot to be desired (he only sold like he was dazed...) but his moveset was straight up powermove suplexes. And he again came across as a badass which matters. Had a seemingly unbeatable submission.

Overall 7
I was a fan of his in ecw and hyped for him in wwf....obviously that left a lot to be desired...if you only have one run that works on any level, i cant rate you over a 7....

Can anyone find me his promo from around 97 or 98, where he has the towel draped over his head and he's talking about Sabu, and how his "hands are his weapons".

It was the first time I had ever watched ECW and my third grade self was :lupe: seeing fools flying off balconies and scaffolds.

Man if you have Tazz as a 3/10, what are Stevie Richards, Rodney Mack, Rico, and Curtis Axel :mjlol:

Mic skills I'd say about a 7. It wasn't till I got round to watching more old ECW stuff recently that I kind've discovered that despite having some gems and catchphrases, I didn't totally love his mic work. As with some ECW dudes, I felt like he had a penchant to swear too much instead of to punctuate his points with, and some of his lines came off forced here or there.

Personality/Gimmick I'd rate about a 7. Shoot style, Goldberg esque monster pre Goldberg. The security squad, the towel over the head, arms crossed, everything clicked. I think if he didn't cut promos I'd rate this higher, as I think his character would've benefitted more from being silent.

Ring work again a 7. I loved his suplexes and the Tazmission was one of my favorite finishers ever. His selling was spotty and his matches occasionally lacked flow, but he could go.

I'm not acknowledging his WWE run at all as it was so brief and unimportant that it's hardly worth discussing. He was very good on commentary alongside Cole and not bad with Styles. Everything else was downhill.

As an overall talent, I'll say again, 7.

Btw @mrken12 theres no reason to change the pace of these IMO...its a quick conversation during the work day....and there are PLENTY of wrestlers

People brought up a good point about giving members a few days to discuss the wrestlers and take a good look at their overall careers. Plus it gives people the chance to vote who maybe don't visit the forum everyday.
