Its hard to judge him depending on what era of wrestling you came up with.
I came up in the era when he started declining physically in the mid to late 80s...then he was only getting by on gimmick and name...even then that started taking a hit..i remember watching the tail end of his WWE stint in the early 90s where he was getting bodied by the ultimate warrior in minute matches and he started walking with the arm crutches..he looked pitiful
i had the privilege of seeing him wrestle as a kid at the old new haven coliseum in the 80s
but thanks to youtube it was great seeing the matches of what a younger, prime Andre looked and moved like...that was an Andre that could work as a big man
Andre was and stayed over, had legendary feuds, and matches...and is in the upper tier of wrestlers crossing over in the mainstream..esp in Hollywood. Princess Bride is an all time classic movie
but he had an undeniable impact on pro wrestling...no question..gotta give him a 9.5
