TSC Evaluation #14: Tommy Dreamer

Where do I start with someone who has given his life to the great fans of professional wrestling. Whether it was as a baby faced suspender wearing heartthrob (no homo) or a hardcore icon putting fear into all of his opponents and delight into the hearts of the crowd, Tommy will forever remain relevant.

Mic work/promos - Highly underrated on the mic he gives emotion like no other, Tommy makes fans feel whatever he has to say. No script was ever needed just give him a mic and let him dazzle the crowd. 10

-Personality/gimmicks - No gimmick was ever needed since he is as real as it gets. After he lost the suspenders he was finally unchained allowing him to become the face of not only ECW but a revolution. 10

-Ring work (along with some of your favorite matches/feuds) - In the early ECW days I admit Tommy was still green but the way he was able to learn and adapt was god like. Sure he could've been a high flyer or super technician but he chose to go down the path that enabled him to become a hardcore icon. His epic feud with Raven become one of the most talked about feuds in history thanks to his willingness to never quit.10

-Overall rating (which doesn't have to be an average of the above scores) - With all that I just said I'm sure everyone is anticipating my final score, well wait no more my friends, overall score is 10.

Absolute trash. Terrible promo, terrible worker, terrible look. The only reason he flourished is because Paul E. was able to convince his audience that everyone was a star if he said they were. His one memorable feud was redone in WCW with DDP in his role, and it was 100% better than the Raven/Dreamer feud. This fat fukk has been hustling money from marks for 25 fukking years.

Paul made everyone in ECW someone for the fans to care about. Dreamer was there a long time probably because nobody in WWF/WCW wanted him. lol So ultimately his character grew because he was a mainstay.

But I gave him a 1, only b/c I couldn't give him a 0.

The one storyline that he's most known for was done better TWICE with DDP and Sandman as his stand ins. And he's allowed to wrestle despite being the poster child for CTE in wrestling. But he gets a two for his two most memorable sound bytes

Dreamer was nothing special in ring and pretty much average all around. I wouldn't call him bad in any particular area, but there was nothing that stood out.


He was a guy that got over from circumstance and good booking. Had you put countless other guys in this same positon, they probably could have pulled it off. That said, his everyman look and charm actually benefitted him a lot versus a small but ripped or large but fat guy wouldn't have. He was the perfect guy to play the character of "Tommy Dreamer" and his consistency and hard work was appreciated over the years. That's the thing about wrestling, when you reach a certain point of years in the business, people start to appreciate you just because you dedicated your life to it. He'd probably never get over in today's era, but he deserved and earned his position in the older era.

His matches always depend the other person in ring. he would be nothing withough Paul
And his feud with raven could have been done better if raven fukked with with anyone else.
Plus this Doughboy been riding the coattails of ecw for almost 15 years

The definition of a bum personified. Ring work way below average. A TERRIBLE promo and he cried way too much. I am usually harsh with my criticism but I have nothing good to say about as a performer.
