I think you are overestimating his supporters because of this administrations "presentation" of his popularity. He has been underwater his whole presidency, he is historically unpopular with almost every demo except white males. What this administration is doing is playing on peoples despair and fear, and trying to pretend that Trump is the only person that can save this country from apocalypse (that he is creating), he is trying to wag the dog, creating culture wars, because the only way he can win is to scare the boomers, and the crazies, and the racists, but that's not the majority of America. We are heading into a recession, which means he will be campaigning in places that will be hit hardest, the protests will get bigger, we will start seeing more and more empty seats at those rallies, he will be forced to freestyle even more, and one of these days, and I know it hasn't happened, but eventually it will, he is going to say something so fukking outrageous, and racist, or sexist, or xenophobic, or just plain bigoted, that his base will have splinters in it. I also believe that once the primaries are over, we will get a candidate that ALL of the Dems will get behind (I hope its not Biden), and you will see a lot of energy from young, first time voters, more like what we saw in the midterms with voter turnout. The Republican party is not growing, the Boomers are dying, the racists are being exposed, the white supremacists, despite the media spin they are getting that make them seem like "victims" to big. bad Antifa, are not thriving (at least on street level).
