I told them that in recent times in 2008 and 2012 history was being made with Obama and its a once in a lifetime moment. Not to think its a Disney movie and because Obama was elected, the Republicans are done for. I even said multiple times I think this election is gonna be a low voter turnout when it comes to the youth and Black people because as a whole we are fed up with lack of results with politics and constantly told to vote for a Democrat cause its the "lesser evil". They all(my family) think I'm exaggerating and that he cannot win. If 2008/2012 did not happen the low turnout would have happened years ago. To sum up what happens normally in the midterms with low turnout will happen in the GE for the first time in ages.

Mexico accepted hella Haitians after the earthquake. Mexico accept Jews during World War II, Lebanese and Syrians, even Afrians as proven by Lupita Ny'ongo. @dre198703 we seem to forget its not just hispanics but our "brothers and sisters" also in the same predicament...such as those born in Africa and in the Caribbean. Only difference is they are less vocal about it. Also its defended because of the youth who are put into this situation simply because of their parents actions...they should not have to suffer because of what their parents did. that is why alot of the people who criticize the actions of the parents the most will still support the dream act cause that benefits the children who were put into the situation through no fault of their own.

also in terms of "illegally taking resources and jobs from another country" remember they still pay the same exact taxes and cannot get health benefits and cannot get certain jobs anyway that require an official social security card to show...sure people can have identification to show but certain jobs ask for physical social security cards for verification.

i know this because i'm in the same situation...my mom was born and raised in jamaica...im from canada but been living in NY since i was 7 and im 23 now. I do agree though that when im applying to jobs I cannot stand when they ask the "are you hispanic or latino" at the end of every application while saying on the same page they won't be bias against age/race/gender etc. So i can understand the frustrations of people who say hispanics are taking jobs
