Oh god, you can't be serious? How is the 400m part new when is was discussed back in January? The NEW thing Obama was talking about in that video was the fact that they paid Iran in CASH. Did you even watch that video?

But of course that wasn't going to happen. Instead what we have is the manufacturing of outrage in a story that we disclosed in January. And the only bit of news that is relevant on this is that we paid cash.

But they did announce the $400 million in January. The only part they didn't disclose was that it was in cash. That was Obama's point--the only "news" to this story is the method of payment, which makes it seem like something out of a spy novel. He's saying nobody would consider it news if it was a $400 million wire transfer--which, as the President explained, wasn't feasible due to banking restrictions.

I just don't see what the big deal is--we owed them money and gave it to them the quickest way we could as a good faith measure. What difference does it make whether it was cash or a bank transfer?
