I followed that Reza Zarrab case for 3 years, he cooperated extensively with prosecutors, after he couldn't reach a plea, that involved him going back to Turkey. He was also accused of raping an inmate (which was questionable) in MCC, and bribing a guard 40k for a cell phone. The fact that Giuliani was his lawyer was a red flag, and it's been reported that he was seeking a deal with US Attorneys office. Preet Bahara handled that case until he was terminated in 2016.
