McConnell is probably going to pull another Garland. And no have the vote until this time next year. That way a possible Pelosi situation isn’t a whole year.

He's already on record as saying they would hold a trial if he was impeached. Given this would be going down during a presidential election year, where McConnell himself happens to be up for reelection, I'm guessing he'd want to get the trial over with as soon as possible so repubs can try focusing on retaining their majority.
