When I was a kid, my grandfather, suffering from cancer, came home on Xmas Eve feeling great. He took a turn for the worse in the early AM, the fam took him back to the VA and he never came home again.

He's not out of the danger zone yet and probably leaving against the recommendations of the medical staff.
