To get a warrant on a former president I imagine you have to pretty much go to the very top to get this signed off.

Yeah no doubt the Attorney General had to sign off on a search warrant of a Former President and the federal court probably grilled the hell out of the FBI/DOJ before giving the approval to do it.

CNN said Trump was in Trump Tower in NYC when the search warrant happened.
