Do you realize there was a fukking PANDEMIC during that time and people stopped having to commute to work so they didn't have to live in expensive-ass $6,000/month apartments in the middle of San Francisco anymore? Those people didn't lose their jobs, they just rented quieter places that were cheaper and closer to nature where they could do the same fukking work without spending a ton of money to live in a crowded urban center. I have a friend who works for Apple up by the Bay and he moved to Hawaii for two years and got scuba certification.
Now that people are going back to work the prices are going back up just like normal. Average rents are down just 10-20% from pre-pandemic, which most folk in San Fran would say is a GOOD thing and helps the economy but your unhinged ass wants to bytch about it.
