He had career politician who served both party administration either telling him no or limiting his influence.

Now he has no need for re-election. He has staff but it’s all loyalist who don’t care about keeping things as is. His ineptitude doesn’t matter. 20% approval means nothing to him even if he does leave voluntarily in 4 years
