Depends on who you ask. If you ask old heads or people who value lyrics in hip hop they’ll say Hov. If you ask a zoomer or younger millennial it’s going to be Ye. Ye has better production and even direction in his albums, he takes more risks than hov but one thing I’ll say is WTT is not a classic.

Bp3 and 4:44 on the same level to me so I included it. Even without, Jay has more than Kanye.

I love Jay, I think he's the 'greatest' rapper behind Pac at this point but he does not have 5, 6, 7 classic albums, nobody does really. 3-4 max.

Critically, Jay’s discography as a whole is pretty far below where you would think it should be. He’s like a nikka that made the all star team 7 times but played 24 seasons.

If we are using a high bar and not NBA hall of fame criteria then I think this is correct. Vol 2 and Black Album are damn close though. You could argue that Graduation is close too.

So it's either 3-2 Ye or 4-4 depending on what you define as a classic.

All of their other albums (in their primes) may have groups of fans that really like them (i.e. yeezus and American Gangster) but they are not universal acclaim (average man plus streets plus critics) classics.
