Thats what it is :manny:

Even the BX is like that. These hood-adjacent spots that try that Sunday turn up brunch spot every week......all kinds of foolishness. You see women passed out in the corner at 1pm from drinking too much on a VIP looking sofa, from too much bottomless mimosas

And no one is taking about the obscure hood spot in the BX or Caribbean Soul in west bubblefukk Queens. I’m talking about the brunch/dinner events that happen all over the city and are usually held in midtown/SoHo restaurants because they’re easier for everyone to get to. ALL kinds of people frequent those spots though they cater to black people, and it’s almost always dinner and a turn up.

What else would telling the DJ to turn off the music and speaking loudly to the crowd be? Using loud profanity even if it was meant to be directed to that party, he took it a step further by using profanity and speaking generally to women as a whole. Which again, is awkward. The crowd are just paying customers and adults. No need to speak in generalities on a soapbox all the while using profanity and lacking in tact. What business owner does this?

:jbhmm:
A PSA. A PUBLIC SERVICE ANNOUNCEMENT. And for the record he ultimately apologized for the profanity, but not the message or even the delivery. He tried to provide a trendy place for black people to have a quality meal with an ambience that embraces our culture. A SELECT group decided they wanted to do their own thing. There's really nothing to debate. That restaurant was packed. Everyone else seemed to understand what the vibe was. They were probably enjoying the music, but had the CLASS to stay in their seat while doing so.

If buddy was going to every other table all night having to explain to people not to twerk you'd have a point. But no. It was ONE group. ONE.

Stop caping for trashy women.

Who’s caping for trash women? He’s getting his props and his criticisms from both ppl who were and weren’t there for a reason. Because you have groups of ppl who felt that such a PSA wasn’t necessary when dealing with 1 group of unruly guest. Or maybe even one person in that group. Restaurant would’ve been just fine if he just addressed that group and handled thing differently. We wouldn’t even be on here debating about anything. Again, what business owner of a fine dining establishment makes some grandiose PSA, and uses respectability politics towards patrons? It’s always gonna come across awkward. Maybe I need to be referenced, but is that some local neighborhood restaurant, where folks new the owner and he knew most of the patrons? If not, then he did too much and the soap boxing wasn’t needed. Again, unruly guest isn’t unique to black ppl anyways, that this type of paternalistic soap boxing needed to be done. Just doesn’t make sense to me.

Le Reve (Midtown East)
The hotel rooftop that’s across the McDs on Delancey and down the block in LES.
Woodland - RIP (smack dab in the middle of Downtown BK).

this is me naming three non- black establishments in nonblack neighborhoods that I’ve personally been to. If you add in all the other Black catered restaurants, the lists grows. I don’t see what’s so upscale about his menu so I know off the top 6 more restaurants with similar food/environment where shyt like this also happens. :pachaha:
