It's always the people with no home training that can't stand being lectured. Thats really what this boils down to. He had every right to check them the way he did in HIS establishment. He made it clear that he didn't need their money, so all this "they're the paying customer so he shouldn't have addressed them that way" is bullshyt.
If it's my establishment, and there's an ambiance that I want in my establishment, I'll do whatever I have to do and say whatever I feel like saying to get my point across. If your feelings got hurt because someone pointed out that you're acting a damn fool, that's your fault.
