Dudes acting like Vince Vaughn didn't start out in seedy roles like Psycho or Domestic Disturbance , he's the only cat on this list that won't tank this shyt:russ:
Vaughn at first is obviously a weird choice looking at it on paper but i think he can pull off a True Detective type role

edit: i actually didnt realize how many movies i've seen with taylor.

snakes on a plane, x men origins, john carter, battleship, savages :whoo:

i saw that on lunch a few hours ago and i was like i wonder what fred thinks about this :lupe:

Eh....:manny:

I'm actually familiar with Liggoti's writing, and the book in question.

It is a valid complaint IMO. I doubt this will ever go to court, and if he did I doubt they'd win....but Rust was on some Jay-Z shyt with some of his dialogue.

If I recall I mentioned it in the "TD" thread. Not necessarily that it was plagiarism, but that Rust was obviously influenced by Lovecraft/Liggoti.

Season 2 will make or break the validity of these claims.

Look one post up breh.

Fred.
:heh:

I'm retarded.

When does something become plagiarism is my question...Going with themes/philosophical viewpoints that have been expressed in previous works by other authors isn't exactly new...but some of the dialogue is a little close :lupe:

Plagiarism is one of the hardest things to prove unless something has been stolen word for word. So I doubt anything will come of this, the author hasn't even commented on it.

Having said that, like you said he got a little too close to the material in question.

Side note:

Anyone that misses Rust Cohle should read Thomas Ligotti. He's basically Rust Cohle as a horror writer.

But the note was not a typed message of official business: the handwriting varied from a neat italic script to a child's scrawl. He desperately stared at the words for what seemed an infinite interval without comprehending their message. Then, finally, the meaning sank heavily in.

Dr. Monk, read the note from inside the animal, We leave this behind in your capable hands,
for in the black-foaming gutters and back alleys of paradise, in the dank windowless gloom of
some galactic cellar, in the hollow pearly whorls found in sewerlike seas, in starless cities of
insanity, and in their slums… my awe-struck little deer and I have gone frolicking. See you anon.
Jonathan Doe.

“David?” he heard his wife's voice inquire from the bottom of the stairs. “Is everything all right?” Then the beautiful house was no longer quiet, for there rang a bright freezing scream of laughter,
the perfect sound to accompany a passing anecdote from some obscure hell.

:wow:

i'm not gonna get all whiny about the choice of actors. it's not like the cast from the 1st season made much sense on paper either but look how that turned out. :manny:

The writer mentioned him in interviews as inspiration already long ago, several times.

And in the TD thread you mentioned ligotti BECAUSE the writer did. You read those same interviews.

Matter of fact heres you quote

Now my 2 cents.

As much as Pizzolatto name-dropped Liggoti and Lovecraft I'm shocked Marty and Rust are still alive. So the complaint of :ld: "well, they didn't resolve the larger cult issue" is :heh:

Fred.

YOU didnt come up with that on your own which youre trying to clearly insinuate in this thread you just read the writers interviews :heh:
