I think it's best for both parties that they're going this route. Pizzolatto worked on S1 for a long time, and we saw how good that was. He only had a year to work on season two and the drop in quality was evident all throughout. I'm looking forward to his next project, maybe we'll get a Galveston miniseries or something.


I liked the Lynchian, neo-noir vibe it had going on, but something felt missing to the story. Another thing that bothered me was that I felt like the show was trying to be too serious, and it was to the point where it wasn't even believable. The end of episode two got me excited for nothing, really thought there was gonna be an occult twist with the Caspere investigation.

Yea I really expected some occult shyt.

I sensed the Lynchian vibe.. but it wasn't strong enough. shyt I've thought about how season 2 could have been improved.

Save the corrupt land deal and mob boss shyt for season 3 in seattle or whateva

Season 2 was horse shyt.

It being named true detective was a double edged sword. For starters, anything less than award winning would've been disappointing. Secondly, it created a hype that the actors or story were not worthy of holding.

If season 2 was called "highways" or some shyt, only people who really liked it would watch it, everyone else would tune it out. Instead, you have this huge audience with high expectations ripping it to shreds.

Season 1 is historic. Season 2 is a niche show.

Season 2 received a lot of unnecessary hate. It's not nearly as good season 1 and that's the main issue. If it was called anything else other than "True Detective" people would have said hey this is a decent show but because season 1 was so much piff, people shyt on season 2 like it was terrible television or something. Colin Farrell and Rachel McAdams were really good in it.
