A brand new series from Nic Pizzolatto is more likely to happen than True Detective season 3, say HBO sources...

Latest news

The first thing any new head of TV programming does is shake up the predecessor's slate, and that seems to be the case with HBO. Now that former HBO comedy boss Casey Bloys has replaced Michael Lombardo as the head honcho, it looks as though True Detective season three is less likely to happen.

A third season was by no means a done deal. As we understood it, Lombardo was happy to go ahead with season three if series creator Nic Pizzolatto wanted to, but there was no confirmation either way.

Now, according to a report in The Hollywood Reporter, "HBO sources suggest a new project from creator Nic Pizzolatto is more likely" than a third run of the once-hit detective drama.

Season 2 never happened in my eyes kinda like Rocky V
and godfather 3
:shaq2:Whoever greenlit those travesty's deserves death(Hollywood death like get banned from making films ever).

HBO is basically Game of Thrones, they have no marquee shows like Sopranos and The Wire. They need a game changer because they are looking kind of stale lately, all their shows outside of GOT are too niche and don't appeal to a wider market so they need something new.

If I was head of HBO they should look to Science Fiction next, they have never done a show in that genre and they obviously can get the best talent.

I think it's best for both parties that they're going this route. Pizzolatto worked on S1 for a long time, and we saw how good that was. He only had a year to work on season two and the drop in quality was evident all throughout. I'm looking forward to his next project, maybe we'll get a Galveston miniseries or something.

True Detective season 2 was good, fukk the haters :pacspit:
I liked the Lynchian, neo-noir vibe it had going on, but something felt missing to the story. Another thing that bothered me was that I felt like the show was trying to be too serious, and it was to the point where it wasn't even believable. The end of episode two got me excited for nothing, really thought there was gonna be an occult twist with the Caspere investigation.
