I wouldn't be surprised..

I mentioned it earlier in this thread... but I wouldn't be surprised if the investigation in TD is inspired by books or things like The Franklin Coverup (which details a satanic child prostitution ring connected to law enforcement, the media and politics) and also The Ultimate Evil by Maury Terry.. where the author pretty much proves Son of Sam was more than one shooter (also tied to satanic cults).

The Franklin shyt.. has a documentary that was supposed to air on TV but was pulled.. it's on youtube.

I vaguely remember reading somewhere else that Nic Pizzolatto said that it was loosely based on some specific murders in Louisiana. Or maybe it was someone speculating.

He was stunned by what he heard: Ewing said that both women told him that “higher-ranking officers” had been directly involved in covering up the murders.

Ewing had long been wary of his fellow cops, and he feared that the audiotapes would simply vanish, just as drugs and cash had a way of disappearing from evidence. So Ewing handed the interview tapes over to a local private investigator named Kirk Menard, who rushed copies to the FBI’s office in nearby Lake Charles.

Ewing’s gambit to grab the attention of the feds backfired. The tapes ended up right back with the sheriff’s office–dominated task force, and Ewing’s fears of retaliation turned out to be justified. Scary shyt. Basically directly related to TD's plot except it lacks the cult symbolism.

Because I don't let this garbage show. No plot awful writing. Story line in the gutter
