Episode 4 was the masterpiece of the first season of true detective IMO.

I had to let someone else say it breh, I'm biased. But yeah, I agree.

If they don't drop "True Detective" into the mini-series category this award season is going to be a war though. Knowing the Emmys they'll give it to "The Newsroom" or some shyt.

Basic detective show, it does nothing new in terms of detective/police shows.

On the other hand, it's a philosophical rumination on existence and purpose and is an intense character study on two deeply flawed men while touching on other themes.

In the last episode that scene where Russ chased that dude into that Maze was pretty dope too, thought this show was gonna turn into some sci fi stuff right before Russ got stabbed



I found Russ character in the early episodes very relatable though
