25 years ain’t fair neither. I’ve seen drunk drivers that have had multiple duis on their record only get 3-5 years.

They should be tied to the back of a chariot.

Can't help but think people miss the point when it comes to these things.

We shouldn't be think that piece of shyt was given a slap on the wrist so this piece of shyt should be given a slap on the wrist too.

We should be thinking of ways to ensure that people are punished more severely when a high degree of culpability results in death.

:dwillhuh: So he was going 85 while riding the shoulder to avoid hitting someone. I'm no truck driver so I don't know how this shyt works. But could the momentum of him going down hill with no brakes push the truck to 85mph without him hitting the gas. And I wonder why he didn't take advantage of the runaway truck ramp. Didn't even know that was a thing until now.
They usually have speed limiters on trucks to go no more than 65. I don't know why he got so much time. He should have tried to crash that hoe earlier. He got more time than a drunk driver.
look at this video- puts things into a clear perspective, he did fuk up something terrible. He missed 2 signs about the Runaway ramp and crossed over multiple lanes for no reason. I mean, the sign for the runaway truck was prominently displayed - once prior to the actual off ramp and another at the actual ramp. This vid seems like he was callous and showed no caution.

Looks like he cared about saving his own life in the immediate moment, at the expense of what he could have faced. I think that’s the enhancement for the sentence under the reckless endangerment/ negligent manslaughter guidelines. One of those scenarios where if you’re piloting a plane and you know for sure that you will crash, and your choice is to direct the plan into an open body of water where
you would be the one victim rather than a populated residential area with a whole town of people who are in imminent danger. That’s what I think the rationale is- the video seemed like the truck driver was maneuvering to save his own life and not taking into consideration mitigating the risks to others. Dude looked like his driving and react skills are complete shyt and selfish.

Here’s a different scenario - same situation

Did they do a inspection on what's left of the truck? I'm wondering if that was his regular route or truck.
Did they get maintenance history on the truck?
Did the truck have a Jake brake?

Was that his lawyer, company lawyer or public defender?

Going down hills, I always dump two to three gears right off top and then hit the Jake. Cause riding your brakes on a hill in a truck is the quickest way to lose them from

On second look I feel TPTB tryna make an example to discourage truckers from getting in the field and to leave the field. All of the 1st world’s gluttonous pleasures run off trucking. That said I feel for the families and hope there wasn’t negligence involved.

One of the most emotionally charged threads I’ve come across this entire year :heh: everybody’s hair is on fire on this one :heh:

I’ll just say this, it’s easy to say what he should’ve could’ve done, and what you would’ve done, when you weren’t the one behind the wheel

Hell, some of the ppl in here making judgment calls can’t even drive a stick :heh: let alone actually have a CDL like some of us… let alone, would ever find themselves behind the controls of a piece of heavy equipment such as a semi in a dicey situation that requires quick decision making :heh: you goofies struggle to even decide what gender you wanna be from one morning to the next :heh: but all of a sudden now you’re the most precise split-second decision maker on the planet? :heh:.. whatever, get ya expertise’s on, Coli brehs. :heh:
