What's crazy though, there was one survivor, the uncle/son of the people in the van. The family said he told them the van was filling with water and he panicked was just thinking about saving himself...terrible person.

I know that area, and I know what he drove into. It was a terrible decision for him to try and cross, however once that happened he was lucky to get out himself, there was never going to be any saving anyone else that was in that type of van in that situation.

Also all of my family in Port Arthur is accounted for now. Aunt and uncle are in a hospital in Beaumont.

In hindsight my family was truly bless, probably minutes away from having a deathtoll of 8 people. My folks in PA had to be rescued, and I have an Aunt and cousin plus kids that lived in Woodforest Chase apartments, we advised them to leave probably 12 hours before that area completely flooded out.

I think the people in here that are on their doomsday shyt about how no one will move to Houston fail to realize how much commerce is still done by boat. Especially high demand items like energy resources, building materials, chemicals, automobiles, etc.

Houston is a massive port city while also being a hub for people to reach additional regional ports.
I stay by Savannah here in GA and yeah folks don't realize who don't live on the Coast how important ports are to the continuing growth of the national and global economy our port in Southeast GA is a key driver to the massive growth of Atlanta for instance

tiny rant
so my daughters neighbor knocked on her door early this morning, asked if she could please bring her to the Dr because her medical transport wasnt showing up and damaged her car driving through flood waters.
[new neighbor] but my kid has good upbringing so she says sure. lady says its right up the street -not really- but okay.
now daughter and baby have been waiting in the car for 2 hours for this lady,
rude and inconsiderate. no coming out to say "hey this is gonna take longer than usual" or telling her on the way there that the appointment is always
lengthy. just rude.smh

my daughter would have still brought her but she could have got other stuff done in the meantime.

we are still Texans helping Texans though.

its tiny i know. I just hate shyt like that.
