Seems faster than usual for such a localized development.

Seems pretty standard for a homegrown storm, it’s just that you usually see these types of storms later in the season.

Hurricane Opal in 1995 was a notorious storm that formed off the Yucatán and rapidly intensified into a Cat 4.

I'm trying to guesstimate a ratio of storms that form in the Gulf/Caribbean Sea vs out in the Atlantic, but I'm drawing a blank.

The last thing anyone needs is storms that start forming a few hundred miles offshore in 12-36 hours and just launching towards land. At least when they spool up in the Atlantic you have time to prepare.
It works both way I think it’s less time to prepare but less time for the storm to strengthen

Just glad it’s fast moving

But rapid intensification is a concern right now

2-3 large storms per season that you can see coming and evacuate if necessary

vs

Five smaller Cat 1 or 2 storms in the span of 3 months, all pounding the same region

I think that climate unpredictability is going to erase much of what we've come to expect.

They strengthen the leeves but that’s it

Infrastructure non existent

Pumps routinely break

Floods during an normal thunderstorm

:francis: There’s a list of things I can point out but those are the most glaring ones
