I think Statham would've been a good pick for the part. Maybe it's with a bit of hindsight because he nailed his role in Spy as over-the-top tough guy, but that's the kind of portrayal the part needed.

I respectfully disagree. Cause you have to remember in the movie Ben Stiller was an action star, but also played a "retard". The closest actor who did that in real life is Tom Cruise. Statham was funny in Spy, but he was still a tough guy.

And it would've been hilarious seeing a total tough guy like Statham play Simple Jack. That's why a lot of that part didn't work for me, because Stiller played it like a comedy role and it really needed the absurdity of having an actual tough guy trying to play a mentally handicapped person.

Can't call it a classic. Too much meh, but a dope idea that I thought faltered quite a bit. Jack Black wasn't funny, black dude made to be a fagget was forced and just stupid . Stiller wasn't as funny as he usually is, simple jack shyt was funny at times. RDJ killed It and makes the movie special. I still think they dropped the ball with this flick even though it seems to get a lot of love after its theater run. :manny:
