Russo was there at the time of Triple H’s 1st two reigns. Russo left like a week before the No Mercy PPV in October. So he definitely had the book with all that fukkery that took place in September.

In the end, don’t think that booking of Triple H’s 1st few reigns did him any favors establishing him as a top heel. Every time I think of Triple H losing to Vince for the title (even with Austin interference) I :mjlol: knowing Russo took advantage of Vince’s childhood fantasy of being a wrestling star champion. Took Foley putting him over in a retirement feud and the McMahon-Helmsley faction to make him a big time heel.

So Cal
That 00 hhh heel run is kinda overrated though. He had some of the best heel booking I've ever seen, nikka literally whooped the rock's ass every single week.

Crowd was tired of it too, he was getting "same old bullshyt chants" and they turned him face for that angle feud.

Jericho’s current AEW run will make it not particularly close

his whole japan run was about beating the shyt outta njpw and showing they were soft. I totally dug that run and liked how simplistic and callback to the finishes they were. Plus he was a completely different character and showed a ramped up intensity.
that was neutered from his early stampede and lion heart war gimmick by wcw and of course wwe.
I even got to see Okada.
in a cotdamn real elevated lion tamer on okada neck.

Jericho was really interesting and fresh. Totally caught me off guard to see a different Jericho.
that made me a stan of his.

cripple ache was because of proxy and was just there.
he was never this big heel as far as casuals in the boom. As a matter of fact the boom ended with him. Winning at mania to change the triumphant bf dynamic.
not to mention fully alienated the black casual crowd completely. Which also signaled the full end of rhr boom and any possible comeback. Other than a residual downfall and decline. Which is what happened to where we are now.

Jericho is better in every way on a technical/charisma level. at the end of the day however HHH is the bigger name .

To this day HHH is one of the wrestlers ppl ik who don't watch wrestling remember. He ain't nobody's favorite but they remember him :russ:

However I wouldn't even say he's more popular than jericho by a whole lot. He just benefits from all the time he spent around bigger names really. If Jericho had the push HHH had back then the conversation would be entirely different.
Yeah I remember one time in high school these three black chicks who clearly didn't watch wrestling were all joking about how they had last names that started with H so they joked they'd call themselves Triple H - Like the wrestler! I was thinking "Damn he's really known like that :ehh:"
