I think that throughout the IWC, the term "burying" has been changed completely from what it actually means.

I think that HHH/Taker promo shyt got taken waaaay outta proportion. Granted HHH has verbally devalued some people before, but I feel like ONLY because it's HHH saying it do people get all in an uproar. If it was Rock, Austin, or hell, even D-Lo Brown saying it, nobody would care half as much. Saying that they're the last two of an era that's gone just sells the match and makes it seem like something people have to see.

It's no different than (as pointed out earlier) how CM Punk and Jericho were having their feud over who's the real Best In The World at the same time. Looking at that analytically would make it seem like they're the two best and that their match is what's important... so why watch everyone else?

If you wanna go back further than that, how about Rock and Hogan, the match that Rock said was the match that would transcend the WWF and determine once and for all who's the best ever? If you looked at that promo analytically, it would suggest "fukk anyone else currently, fukk anyone else in the past, this match is THE one that matters because it's between the only two that truly matter and no one else does". Of course he didn't mean it like that, but it sold the match.

A burial is when someone goes from being pushed to being made to look inferior to damn near everyone... some of the people HHH has been viewed as "burying" haven't been buried at all. You think CM Punk, WWE champion of the last 8 months, has been buried?

5 star posting :bryan:

I like how Taker who pretty much said the same thing HHH did gets NO type of shyt online for burying anyone. IWC is gonna IWC.

You can also bury people in the back by talking them down to management. An alleged Paul staple and Kliq tactic. In the ring he hasnt buried many people in true term of the word but not very often did he make someone look on par with him unles they were Kliq/Kliq endorsed. Even thats fine my favorites wont make it to the top always. BUT he is also known to throw little immature potshots here and there.

I didnt have a problem with it when it was Shawn because hes HBK one of the greatest EVER and if anyone denies that, kill yourself. But HHH is NOT that damn good. He is an overhyped mid carder in the vein of a Jeff Jarrett with beter mic skills. And THAT my friend is why the IWC gets on HHH so much. Yeah its hatin but part of it is his partially undeserved legacy.

When Rock said who was the greatest ever during the Hogan build, who was gonna argue since it was drawing the event and carried the whole industry as a whole? It was a true statement and no one could argue since it outdrew EVERYTHING BY FAR evidenced by their interaction outpopping Austin and the rest of the NWO every single week. Taker vs Taker didn't draw WM 28 or 27. It was just a deal that got some high rated segments but they never meant anything to the bottom line because they always needed a gimmick to add to their matches for Mania to get people hooked. That's why it was loaded with all of that extra shyt they usually save for middle of the year PPVs that needed it.

But looking at the Rock/Hogan shyt that way from the analytical "what does this secretly mean in regards to everyone else on the card" standpoint, it's different. It doesn't say "this is a dream match we may never see again". It says "fukk everything and everyone else, we are the best and no one else is or has been". I don't agree with that, but that's how it would be taken if people looked at it the way they do everything that comes out of HHH's mouth. It would become "OMG Rock just buried Austin, Bret, Flair, Savage, and every person that's ever been considered a legend!" You and I know that's not what he meant... but don't tell THEM that.

That's how I feel people took that HHH/Taker shyt. How is it burying their current roster by talking about being the last of THEIR era? If Hogan and Flair (god forbid) did a match at Mania 2 years from now, and it was to be their last match ever, and it was hyped as them being the last two of a long gone classic era, would that be a burial to the roster?

That's all in your head and how you wish to view it...the truth of the matter is this. They did the same thing earlier when the Rock called his match with Austin the greatest main event in history. Hype. When the Rock says something, it's hype you remember apparently since you have a key memory for what he said. Fans agree with the Rock. HHH talking about "I'm gonna own this company some day" got booed out and led to WHAT chants and all of that shyt. The segments got nice numbers but the fans in attendance disrespected him, Michaels, and Taker several weeks. Even had the Undertaker stuttering from the WHAT chants interfering with his promos.

And the last of the era stuff wasn't believable to the fanbase that the Rock brought in weekly anyway during that stuff since he was bigger than both and meant more. Not to mention Jericho was there for all of that shyt too. Just hype. It gets no sold sometimes...sometimes it doesn't. Cena has tried to put his matches with Lesnar and CM Punk over big in promos and the crowd shyts on him for it because he sounds too fake and is a proven corporate pushed object instead of a performer who actually earned his take by paying his proper dues.
