They mentioned it on the local news. And the defense attorney brought it up too when he addressed the media

He was in his right to shoot him to eliminate the so called "threat"..

But 16 shots? :stopitslime:

Thats why he was charged with the 16 counts of aggravated battery..

Now he can use the not guilty charge of offcial misconduct, then bargain the battery charges down..

He'll do 6..

Technically y'all, unless some fukkery is afoot, he would do life type numbers. The 2nd degree alone would have been bullshyt(4-20) but the 16 battery charges carry 6-30. If you add it up, he would be doing a lifetime minimum. The conduct charge being dismissed was strange, however.

They gonna run his charges concurrently. I think he'll get a 15yr sentence, maybe 12 but theyll be at 50%. Plus he'll get credit for everyday he was out on bond. Thats actually a pretty typical sentence charge for 2nd degree. 20 plus for 2nd degree is for more heinous shyt or shyt with less mitigating circumstances. Because they DIDNT find him guilty of dereliction of duty, means they not gonna max him out.

Man I hope not. He should be facing 90+ at the minimum. If they figure out how to get around this:francis:

Jason Van Dyke moved from Cook to Rock Island County Jail
Jason Van Dyke moved from Cook to Rock Island County Jail
KANE COUNTY, Ill. (WLS) --
The Cook County Sheriff's Office confirms Chicago police Officer Jason Van Dyke has been moved from the Cook County Jail to another jail three hours away.

Van Dyke was transferred to the Rock Island County Jail four days after his conviction "for his security as well as the stability of the jail compound," said Cara Smith, a spokeswoman for the sheriff's office.

"Generally we move detainees off site for one of three reasons - a serious staff assault, the need for heightened protective custody, for instance a detainee that is cooperating on a case, or a high profile detainee or detainee from a high profile case. In this instance, Van Dyke is in the 3rd category," Smith said in an email.

Rock Island County Jail was determined to be the best housing assignment for him and the jail compound.

"There were absolutely no incidents of any nature that prompted this decision," Smith said.

Smith said Van Dyke is one of 45 jail detainees housed off site.
Van Dyke was found guilty of second-degree murder and 16 counts of aggravated battery Friday in the death of Laquan McDonald.

Van Dyke is due back in court Oct. 31, though a date for his sentencing has not been set.
