I'm not some business person who can tell you what is what and what is going on behind the scenes but you would have to be blind to have not seen what was going on

drake was the golden boy and businesses/blogs were hopping in on that action, even a few rappers were trying to get on the bandwagon
drake is on the "winning team" and it's definitely not just his music thats keeping him there

The thing is, A$AP came in with an incredibly specific style, that became the norm soon after they popularised it.
Look at Ian Connor, nikkas came in dikkriding their style, ended up being a part of the group, and he dresses damn near 1/2 the industry.
Their music was also a very distinct off-key singing, hazy, Houston-boom bap sound that eneded up being the industry norm too.
It was only a matter of time before new artists were gonna pop up making music they thought they originated.
