whole thing looks about as much fan service as the previous new DBZ movie from a few years ago.
i used to love DBZ but its a relic of an older era in Anime. trying to extend to it or add to it is just awkward. hopefully they let it rest in peace after this instead of digging it up and pulling it out of its grave for cash ins.
Eh, I'm kinda mixed on this.
DBZ started this shounen shyt, but I think trying to extend the original series or have stories in the same continuity is a mistake because:
1. By the Buu Saga (and really before that), the protagonists are so overpowered that there really shouldn't be anybody in the universe strong enough to fight them. That means you either have to asspull a villain out of nowhere or focus on comedy.
2. The premise is a little redundant, DBZ sagas and movies are basically just so-and-so villain/android/alien comes to earth and is looking to do something evil, the Z warriors (and by that, I mean Goku) have to stop them.
IMO, as opposed to movies, I'd be more interested in seeing a remake from the very beginning. That way you don't have to worry about continuity and the characters being overpowered sine it'd be earlier on and the writers could go in different directions. Maybe focus on non-Saiyans more, maybe stop reviving people so much, etc.
Just my two cent.
