Heat gonna be shooting first shot they get. How would 50 seconds run off the clock in that scenario?
in the op i didnt go step by step but i meant you would continue to foul using the same strategy. you'd immediately foul and then have your offensive possession, then immediately foul or wait til half court to foul, then have your offensive possession. if you run the shot clock down likely best case scenario they get the ball back around 10 seconds left down 2 assuming they make all 4 free throws as opposed to you letting them shoot a 3 on the first possession and now its immediately a one possession game with 55 seconds left.

Nah, you'd be putting the trailing team in the driver's seat. If they hit their free throws them they cut to 2 with 30 seconds left on the clock. Steal or force turnover on the inbound and they're in a great situation. Or they can foul and start a free throw shooting contest. Even being down 2 with 10 seconds left is a great outcome for a team that was down 6 with 59 seconds left.

Teams up that much in the final minute nearly always win because the clock is their friend. You don't want to stop the clock AND give away free points, that greatly increases the ways something bad can happen.

good point about the 4pt lead with 30-35 seconds left, having thought about it i wouldnt foul then because yes youre gifting them a chance to cut it to a one score game at the line and a 2 for 1, but i still think fouling with a 6pt lead is the better option initially because youre not at risk of them tying the game in 2 possessions like what transpired. ideally yeah you play great defense and force them to waste time and take a 2 or a difficult 3, but fouling initially youre virtually eliminating their chance of cutting it to a 1 score game on that first possession and if they dont foul now you have a chance of running the clock down to around 30 seconds with likely worst case a 4 point lead.

and duncan robinson scoring 34pts shows how easy it is to score in today's league :mjlol:

trust me. i like all my wolverine cacs and nikkas. but robinson is just a good shooter. that's all he is. but he routinely dropped 20+ pts this year and it's all because nobody plays damn defense :russ:
