Alternated. But the home teams get the choice of jersey. For ex, Pitt chose the white in 2005 to keep up with the theme of their all road playoff run. Pats lost in the blues to the NYG twice, so they chose white in the next 4 SB appearances. Denver chose white due to losing to Dallas, Wash and SF in the orange ones.
