And I agree that paying Chase doesn't make that much sense, specially at this point. Dude played only 1 game with us, let him stay healthy and productive first before we theorize on any decision regarding him.

Aiyuk on the other hand is another thing altogether. And I insist that I don't see his agent playing ball with us for an extension either, this dude is gonna demand the sort of money we wont be able to afford. Bosa was lucky Lynch values DL over anything else and that we could maneuver our way to that insane contract. Aiyuk will want to get paid like Deebo (or more even) and that's just not realistic, I think.

I'd love to keep BA btw, I don't see Lynch/Kyle being able to replace him in just 1 offseason. I'd love to wrong, but I don't see it. Just use the 5th year option, he's gonna be making good money (14 million) so I wouldn't expect him to holdout. I know jwonder is gonna be begging to trade him every single week next year though :russ:

Honestly on any other offense Id take Aiyuk over Deebo in a vacuum. Healthier player, style not conductive to injury, much better route runner etc.

But this offense Kyle loves to be able to rotate Deebo in and out the backfield; most other offense would just use a change of pace back, but Kyle wants that guy who is a WR to then shift and run out of a heavy package.

Deebo is also heart and soul and is weather-agnostic. I've seen Deebo carry us in the playoffs, literally. Aiyuk when shyt goes down and game is muddy, physical and tense, which happens a lot in the offs...tends to kinda wilt there.

I think Niners make an offer to him and he'll play out the year. I can even see a tag placed but Niners under this regime usually dont hold players hostages.

Chase isnt even on my radar as far as re-signing goes. His medical history and a long-term contact fukking screams Dee Ford. The only way Id say yes if we win the SB, and at that point I dont care what moves they make.

Well we have about 39 million in cap space and we could easily re-sign Aiyuk and the cap the next 2 seasons is going to increase considerably.

How much of that 39 million stays next year though? aren't we pushing every contract we can to next season and beyond? I've always admitted I'll never fully understand how the NFL cap works but restructuring has it's limits too, no? :patrice:

We'd need Aiyuk to extend for a short term like Deebo, I hope his agent goes for that instead for asking something more long term he could get from another team.

basically they kicked Kittle and Armsteads contracts down one year in exchange for cap being available this year. So when we're in real salary cap hell and they are off the team we'll still be paying them.

Same thing they have done to Dee Ford contract, which we are still paying off.

The whole 39 million rolls over. You can restructure and this is how it works. They'll convert part of your salary to a signing bonus and the difference between that and a regular NFL check is that you get that signing bonus check up front instead of broken up week by week. You have to at least pay them the vet minimum though.

If you have the cap money you can absorb the hit right away or split it up. We've been splitting it up and we can continue doing that until one of those players leave or retires then we can't restructure anymore and their cap hit takes effect the next year.

For the players they probably like the signing bonus because they get their money right away and they don't have the jock tax added. So yeah what will hurt us is when we start to lose those restructured players and their cap hit starts to creep in. The only ones we may have to worry about short term is Kittle, Trent, maybe Hargrave and Armstead.

Seriously

We have become America’s Team and if the game is rigged

The ones in charge gonna have to see it’s in their best interest to get us to the SB and win.

We already contribute to so many high ratings on our games and generate so much money.

They have several players who can be the face of the league

We one of the most marketable teams

When we're worth a damn we take over every stadium we visit EXCEPT maybe Philadelphia or Gillette when Brady was there but yeah the only stadium we haven't taken over that I recall was Philly.
