Total Recall remake is much better then the OG version

The new version has much better action then the old version, straight up and ofcourse it's not funny if it doesn't try to be funny. Good looking sets, art and design - the lens flares tho.

There was no need for this movie but let's not kid ourselves, the action in the 1990 version was on Three Stooges level at points, had terrible acting and the production design is lacking


Paul Verhoeven is really good at themes and story but his movies age horribly

I'm just interested in the shyt storm you're going to brew up with this one...I do agree with you about Verhoeven's movies tho. They don't always age well and he may have injected too much of himself into this movie

I'll just say I disagree. There was nothing special at all about the new Total Recall. No Mars, No Quato even the 3 titty broad in the remake was forgettable. Just a very blah action movie that should not have been named Total Recall.

I agree with that. I don't think it's a bad movie but the problem is, it's just adequate. It doesn't standout at all. But it does have more in line with the source material

There are parellels and it does hit on some of the same themes as the original and I'm not knocking it. The problem was the name. Arnold was a straight up savage in Total Recall (body count was incredible ) , while Colin Farrell kept that weird confused look on his face he always has.

Well that's more in line with the source material though. I'm not saying I think it's better, I much prefer Verhoeven's flick, but the main character is supposed to be confused and lost most of the movie. They had to tailor that movie to Arnold's strengths, and subtlety is not one of them

You're right and the argument will be "well it's total recall, what do you expect it to be" and my argument against that is, technically, the remake is a better made film. But the more memorable one is the Verhoeven flick and again, a lot of the intelligence in the concept is loss due to Arnold being the main character because when they tailor roles for him, they pull a lot of nuance and character moments out

Naw breh, the original Total Recall with Sharon Stone is classic imo. Flaws and all. They should have never remade it. Maybe if they did the remake raw like they did with Dredd it would have been interesting, but instead we got a very average action movie.

And that's my issue with it. The concept can be remade and there are definitely things that the original didn't do that a remake should do and could do and that they even did in the remake but it was just very bland. Competently done, well acted, all put together well but just very meh

She was in there but the way in which she was shoehorned in, they should've just left her out seriously. It was pandering. And I hate when filmmakers pander to please the fanboys.
