I remember the follow up to alone at prom being a huge dissapointment. he went back to that rap/trap shyt. I was heated :sadbron:

his whole team should be ashamed. his talent was there.....just so many wrong moves :mjcry:
I like sorry 4 what. It had good R&B on it as well as rap like most tory projects.

It wouldn't be a good move for his career to exclusively make 80s sounding music just because he pulled it off successfully one time. Especially since naysayers are saying he shang tsung'd the idea from weeknd/bruno mars sound anyway (I feel that he didn't and it sounds different enough personally but I digress). So it made sense to pivot back to his rap/r&b bag.

The difference is he does it better than those two like he’s more fully immersed with the 80s sound. I’m not saying his career should automatically be 80’s music but the Alone at prom series could be like his Blueprint and Carters.

I'm sure he would have had he not went to jail

He already has those style of series in his catalogue with the chixtapes and new torontos so it wouldn't be nothing to do that

A lot of potential thrown down the drain unfortunately

Outside of alone at prom; the chixtape series is the only shyt I liked :manny:

I'm sure I'm not alone in that group.

He probably does have fans who like his rap/trap shyt ; but people like me who are RnB fans are not going to cross over to that.

Alone at prom could easily have been a series. From what I heard 2 he got a lot of nods and notice from real heavy hitters in the industry off it. If the meg shyt didn't happen this probably would have opened more doors for him and probably got him to the next level.

Its all hypothesis tho; I'm just happy we finally got a deluxe and it delivered.

We pouring up red wine with Splash splash on loop tonite and making bodies shake ya feel me :wow:

There's a bigger lane for it....Silk Sonic blew the fukk up around that time...that album was HUGE...Doja cat "say so" was big. This throwback shyt really connects with the people. I think its being underutilized. :manny:

Why did the needledrop rank this so low?
Him and Shawn Cee were hating on Tory really bad when the OG version of Alone At Prom dropped. Doesn't surprise me to see them do it now. Hating on Tory nets them clicks and views.
