Ppl can talk about Ghostwriting. and Marketing, and how they hate her music but at the same time Cardi had hella fans/followers going all the way back to VINE cause she is just a charismatic/entertaining person .

reality is, there's not many artists here that can actually live off their music and touring.
local rappers here just can't sell tickets consistently, and likely don't see that as the "business" but it is. they don't do shows much nor support other artists.
most would feel like the pinnacle of being in the local scene would be 1 mil views on youtube, and to be selling out a mod club (550 cap)

Weeknd, Dvsn, Party, Daniel Cesar etc can do shows eat and live off music
the trap rappers the kids love from the city who do views on youtube can't make a living off music here often. They are the most visible but have the least impact

of course weeknd, dvsn and caesar are doing fine, they are mainstream artists with millions $$$$ backing them.
they have nothing in common with somebody like a chromazz, who does tuesday night shows at strip clubs and has never performed on a legit show.
