Jimmy what's-his-face was not the first person to mention the 6.
Drake had already been mentioning 6 before that Jimmy guy released his weak ass song. Drake released "6 God" in October of 2014 for his birthday. The Jimmy Prime guys song was not uploaded to youtube until Nov 20th, 2014. You can Google that for yourself too.

Why did he call it the 6

He got the name from someone else, Jimmy Prime. There are many theories of how that name came about. Toronto as a city we know today was formed from 6 former cities. Those former cities also make up the 6 "districts" of Toronto today [East York, Etobicoke, North York, Old Toronto,Scarborough, York]. There's also the area codes containing 6 in them. People in Toronto proper were referred to as 416ers while the people in the surrounding suburbs were the 905.

One last point to refute the Quentin Miller "Zone 6" nonsense. When QM did the reference tracks, he was rapping from the perspective of Drake. For example in the Rico reference he says "OB my brother me and him go way back shaq and penny days" then he goes on to say "Reps Up, Topszn, OVO we might just get hit with the RICO". If he was rapping from his own perspective he would not have these lines in there. He doesn't know OB and while he may be able to claim OVO he wasn't going to claim "REPS UP"

Ehh people been saying Drake is considered a clown in his own city and nobody outside of his camp calls Toronto "the 6".

True. Drake doesn't run the city. He's been exposed by many Canadian rappers. I watch KOTD. I've watched KOTD for years. Been a fan of Canadian soccer too. I've met hella people from Toronto too. Being a nanny I was in these people's homes and they never referred to Toronto as the six. I've heard plenty of Nawleans and ATL rappers shout out their ward or district. I.E. Lil Wayne.

Do I care? No. But is Drake completely fabricated? Yes. Doesn't take away from his music being good, but hes not a real rapper nor he is to be taken seriously. If drake runs your city that's pretty sad.
