I tend to think that if maximizing his contract is his biggest concern, some US team will come through with half a billy for him.
Taxes are higher in Canada, too (for good reasons), so if he wants to limit taxation, playing half his games in a state with little or even no state tax (WA, FL, for the latter as an example) will matter.
But even so, it doesn't hurt to visit, especially if they're actually offering 816M Canadian (which is actually about 600M USD).
