honestly it doesn't matter how good the starting line up is when the bench is horrid

rodney hood plays 18 minuts and gives you 2 points and a board :scust:

You cant blame Hood, did you watch the game he barely touched the ball,Van Vleet and Siakam were playing this selfish ineffective 2 man game most of the night...They werent looking to get anyone involved it was pathetic....

Lol Siakam finally did the thing you’ve been wanting him to do by taking over and you’re still mad. Haha u really hate that dude. I can’t be mad with Siakam’s game last night beyond that last shot attempt against Ayton. But otherwise I thought he was easily our best player and the only guy who played well throughout, including his facilitation of the offence (which I think is where he has the greatest potential). What I most liked about his game last night was he stopped multiple runs by getting to the line and stopped shooting after the first Q when they weren’t falling. His form falls apart at range so...I don’t like him shooting that shot at all, especially early in games where he misses more than he makes. It was nice to see him try to block some shots and be aggressive rebounding.

FVV continues to be an awful floor general. Any minutes where he has to run the ship are generally lost. The ball never touches the paint when he has to run the show. He had another typical FVV game where he scores a lot but actually played like shyt. But casuals see the point totals and think he did something. The motherfukker shot FIFTEEN threes. Nurse needs to rein him in.

But overall I think we lost this game in the 3rd when Nurse let Ayton feast on us for six minutes, then he brings in Baynes and immediately Phoenix pulls Ayton and goes small...yet we left Baynes out there to miss layups and not challenge shooters. Also, Lowry continues to look like he has suddenly lost it. He’s quickly falling off a cliff. Not moving him was a huge mistake. It woulda been nice if Trent made a shot from deep as well.

Bench is still horrible but Nurse also plays a bunch of them at the same time rather than mixing them in with the starters effectively, which doesn’t help them at all. Bench players are bench players because they can’t create or can’t play D (unless you have a championship level roster), so you can’t have three or four of them on the floor at a time. Just bad coaching. Constantly.

Thinking more about the Powell trade...the front office went the wrong direction. Shoulda paid him and traded Lowry for draft picks...maybe even moved Boucher for picks as well. So then we would end up deep in the lottery with Powell/FVV/OG/Siakam locked up and the ability to fill in our roster with young players. That could have worked. And by the time we’d have to pay the guys on rookie contracts, the older guys could be traded for value or maybe we’d have another finals appearance or two.

Powell/FVV/OG/Siakam? :scust:

I'd rather give Trent a run, he's basically what they are already looking for. Now they can focus on the front court.

And I don't think Toronto fans understand how bad Lowry's contract is. I've been saying the resigning was horrible and inflated everyone's salary. They were going to throw the bag to fvv regardless, so why hedge with Lowry. Now we want to deal him and it's difficult to match contracts. :snoop:

The 6
Trent shot an awful brick with a minute to go that basically sunk the comeback.

Rebounding is killing this team. Baynes is Araujo status.

Keeping Lowry is highly questionable. This will be a pivotal off-season. Stealth tank is on unless they can get a real 5. Gorgui Dieng got bought out. He’s not great but he’s better than Baynes!

He didnt take over,he did usual aggressive in the 1st half and fade in the 2nd....and he was loose defensively all night til the last 5 mins of the game....

Can you imagine if this team resigns to 2/50 million and destroys there cap space...IN the last 10 games hes turned into Jason Kidd on the Mavericks...Im not that mad tyou didnt move but you cannot resign to anything close to Van Vleet money....

Keeping Lowry makes no sense if you’re not going to resign him and if you’re not going to make the playoffs what a waste

the Powell deal I’m ok with, paying norm 20-25 when we already know the norm, fvvv, og, siakam isn’t winning anything.

Trent is young and is capable of avg 15-20 just like norm also he’s a better defender

The raps have the worst bench , 3 out of the five guys starting were key bench players a few years ago raps never replaced them

Thing that bothers me is that theis, mcgee even vucevic were traded for scraps and the raps didn’t do anything

Even a guy like frank kaminsky was waived and Phoenix picked him up again not saying he’s great but he’s better than Baynes

what’s the mission if it’s to tank why trade Lowry

if it’s to make the playoffs why not get a big?

mcgee went for two second rounders could have had him

how trash was dewan that they went after Baynes and Len and waived him :damn:

Its hard to say cuz we dont know the direction of this FO....GT will cost less and give ur more options if we want to S&T or package for a bigger move...They didnt wanna pay Norm 4/88 and run this core back after seeing how his scoring didnt really impact winning..One thing you have to rememeber is he came off the bench for us in our title year its dangerous to be paying him top dollar to be our 2nd/3rd guy...GT gives you more flexibility to do things this summer if you wana pivot away from this ...Cant overlook that hes having a career year in a contract year...I still remmeber the Celtics series where he didnt show up at all other than Game 6...

It amazes me how a borderline journeyman can tap our pockets for several seasons.

Hopefully management has woken up.

Hes been journeyman of late prior to this season he was an all star...Cant re sign him to anything more than a team friendly deal or ur destroying the next 3-4 years...You need to invest that money in a 5 and a bench....Only guys that should be penciled into next years team right now should Siakam,Van Skeet and OG.

Would the NBA ever screw us out of a number 1 pick?

Like it would go against their core business :patrice:
