One thing about SRS you gotta respect is the hustle.
Somehow a rumor started of Garcia leaving AEW which started a big thing since apparently MJF put him over big last week. So it wouldnt make sense that he is leaving.
SRS sees that and is taking the opportunity to make it a story for fightful select.
That fightful select possibly saying garcia isnt going anywhere or a contract update on someone else will be the cherry on top

This is one of their biggest shows of the year, in New York no less and zero merch of your heavyweight champion or even hometown favorite MJF.
Imagine going to one of the big 4 WWE PLE’s and there not being any Cody, Punk or Roman merch.
This company is its own worst enemy. I'll give AEW another 5 years before it starts having serious issues like WCW due to mismanagement & bad creative decisions.

Why was he crying?
I think they were trying to make it look like UFC fighters who cried after losing big fights. It was supposed to make Daniel Garcia look like a young lion who gave his best fight but showed a lot of heart in a losing effort. That was supposed to be the real sports feel that made us feel sympathetic for Garcia before MJF's heel turn that EVERYBODY EXCEPT GARCIA saw coming a mile away.
In reality, though. Garcia sobbing in the corner just made him look like a p*ssy.
