The biggest theme of the whole season is hypocrisy

Tony was the biggest but so was Carmella. I was on Carmella side during the first argument but Tony’s during the second argument in the basement I think because Carmella act holier than thou but Tony is right, she knew who he was and was complicit for the lifestyle.

This is something that rings true in many celebrity relationships to this day and i always bring up the same argument when it comes to the rich and famous cheating

Great scene

one of the scenes i hear people talk a lot about with carm and hypocrisy is the psychiatrist scene where he says he wont take “blood money”

I never fukking liked that scene. Not the scene itself just how the psychiatrist acted to her.

It was true what he said of course, in a way, but he came off real fukkin swarmy like he knew it all and was above all that. And its because it reminded me of olivias famous line

“Psychiatry is a racket for the jews!”

As well as melfis story, which was that she was enabling tony by seeing him and it ended up being about her need to help him than actually help him and then about her not making him worse.

In one session, jewish psyche had the answer for all carms problems, where melfi couldn't get it in 5 years (a fellow italian). He gave her a blanket leave him which seemed true but had dire consequences, tugged on her moral strings and wouldnt take the money to seem like he gave a shyt. Was about himself. Not carm.

That atory also shown when melfi has dinner with her psychiatrist friends and they all keep asking about tony non stop even tho its confidential. And you see they all self absorbed/break rules/selfish like tony, etc.

its like a mini storyline itself that ran through the show through seemingly meaningless conversations about psychiatry and mental health etc.

Stuff like that makes sopranos the best show on tv ever written.
