I made a thread about the episode titles and I look at it a bit sideways for that, but minus that you would've thought this was a show he enjoyed.

Yes, it's van extremely rich family portrayed but they balanced that with the flipside, Keeping Up With The Joneses and how you still lose in their eyes. They legit provided data from articles and studies, every episode tries to tie something back to slavery and our disparities-- hence the episode titles, etc

He's right, though, about how most black people's perception of their community has been skewed by the programming of their minds by various mediums - social media, music, television, professional sports. Black people have become the face of wealth in America, despite being beneath the barrel, the poorest of the poor, the people whose median worth is less than what your average white person makes in a week. He also hits it out the park when speaking on how this crisis has pulled the curtain to the side and exposed the horrific poverty the majority of black people suffer from. Black America is fighting for its life against a virus that is decimating a black community crippled by white supremacy.

It's a sad pathology, a need to see a false image of who we truly are. We'd rather trade in fantasy depictions of black life rather than accept we are on life support.

The America in rap music videos, Instagram posts, Tumblr accounts, professional sports, etc. No other race is so garishly marketed as the face of opulence as black people in America. Not Asians. Not Hispanics. Not even white people, whose primary representations of wealth are people like Jeff Bezos, boring titans of industry that most people don't give a fukk about. Black people look at Offset, at Future, at YG, at Meg Tha Stallion, at Nicki Minaj, and at every other puppet that white America dangles before an uneducated and spiritually bankrupt black community that is unable to critically assess the imagery they're being fed.

I don’t agree with any of this.

If left up to Tone and Yvette, every black show on TV would be like “The Corner” on HBO. It’s just more incessant complaining. Black people literally aren’t allowed to do anything in Tone and Yvette’s world except watch their YouTube videos.

Somehow you’re not acknowledging how poor you are if you enjoy Netflix, but if you watch them on YouTube on your smartphone it’s not a problem.

Ain't nobody thinks this
What I see when I look at this post is someone who doesn't UNDERSTANNNNNNNNND, the average black family is in ______ is only worth $___ liquid.... UNDERSTANNND that this means you can't even afford the mirror to see your face. Let alone what you're the "face" of.

You don't agree with that? That selected black puppets are used in the service of spinning a fantasy of black wealth before the eyes of a starving black community? That no other race is used in this manner? That black poverty has become clouded by the uninterrupted parade of black consumerism in the media?

If left up to Tone and Yvette, black people would have reparations. :francis:

Perception is everything. Black people are the ballers of society, the face of endless spending, the ones who make racks on racks on racks. Of course we know we're broke, but let's not pretend that society - through social media and other mediums - isn't flooded with this myth of black wealth. You see it everywhere.

Tone is okay, but dude is like a sad sack of information and just criticizes everything Black. Black people can't do this, Black people can not do that, You Black people are broke and only have $10.00 in your saving account and here is the Data.

I have not seen a video that was positive or uplifting for Black people or gave some solutions for struggling Black people.

I get where Tone and Yvette are coming from when it comes to the financial situation of the black community, in particular and especially ADOS, but it comes across as a defeatist attitude or poverty mindset. Yes shyt is bad but damn breh you acting like it's 1866 instead of 2020. You have black people who are doing their thing and making progress. Could it be better? Of course! But constantly focusing on poverty and lack of money is a self fulfilling prophecy.
