Good for him for cashing out instead of going down along with the site but I don't see what's so funny about the tweet 
That original tweet is a better ether to me on the low
Myspace did indeed decline like crazy and his tweet basically acknowledges this (he says yeah, you're right the site failed but at least I got out in time)
He just sounds mad insecure about being a midget amongst giants in his world (social network founders)
Recently Instagram was acquired by Google for a billion and Myspace got bought by Justin Timberlake for basically nothing
And consider his main counterpart Zuckerberg who is to Tom as Tom is to the random regular person on Twitter who he "ethered" in a way that suggests deep insecurities
Apparently now he's retired and travels around taking photos all the time
that's cool but he's oddly preoccupied with social media even today for someone who's out of the rat race
