I got a feeling that despite its rehashed storyline...
As everyone is pointing out it's based off of a short Japanese novel. BUTTTTTT
The Source Code script going into production is what sparked off this movie being made.
Without Source Code creating all of the buzz it did on the black list and later some box office success this movie might have never been made.
