It's a stupid point because the fact is that all that nerd shyt IS the current media fanbase. Marvel movies were the hottest property for the previous decade. So was Star Wars.
Wrestling is going towards a niche, because that's all that is left. There isn't this weird casual audience that's going to put up with watching however many hours of it every single week. Wrestling back then mainly had to compete with other shows and sports. Today, we have a multitude of distractions: other shows, video games, phone, sports, streaming, internet, social media... like it's impossible to pull a casual audience out of such a big pool of distractions.
It's why I always laugh because him and Russo constantly talk about how they need to book for casual viewers, as if it's still 1998. It's fukking not. You're better off building a niche of diehards at this point. This is what every fukking brand does today.
