I remember everyone was trying to get that leak on bearshare, limewire, soulseek, etc. before the release date.

I was 4, and this is still one on my earliest musical memories. Had an African kid wearing counterfeit g unit merchandise. I've never seen a roll out like this man, even those of us who didn't grow up listening to hip hop got introduced to it via this album and its singles. And you know this was before the internet got real popular in those parts, so the mythos surrounding him were wild and hilarious looking back now.

There was something about the sounds on those Shady/Aftermath records that sounded so authentic and real than any of the sounds you’d hear on anyone else’s record. I brought this up to some friends one time and they really didn’t get what I was trying to say so I’m glad to hear that I’m not the only one who noticed things like that.
