Today I learned the reason why Diamond D album covers only say "Diamond" is because a white guy from California had already trademarked "Diamond D"

Kinda old news. But do you know how many 90’s and after rappers have other people using the same name? We could start a thread on it but would be long. Instead should just name how some have let their names get snatched because they didn’t copyright. Like there is another (white of course) that trademarked the name Minnesota so the producer we know had to change his name to MINNESOTA MONEY BOSS

That was happening a lot back then.

There was always some cony dude out in West Bubblef*ck who would trademark the name and kill it for a Hip Hop legend.

The trick today is stealing nicknames
Wheezy - Lil Wayne
Short Dawg ( I think his name is Fresh now) - Too Short
Drizzy - Drake
DJ Esco - Nas

What class would be best for a music name.. and what are the chances of me getting it if a major cosmetics company is using the name for a product :mjcry:
Hmmm.

There def people more credible to answer that. You can always contact a trademark lawyer and get a free consultation and ask a few questions of them.

My trademarks were the commercial use of different words/wordings on products, so unfortunately idk how to best answer your question.

But since there are different types of trademarks, maybe you can get that name b/c the cosmetics co. may only have trademarked the use of a name on a product and not for other uses.

I think it was because biggie smalls was a name of a character in a movie and whoever made the movie got em to change

Yeah it should be thread on that. I vaguely remember about common situation. I think it was some West coast artists ( I don't even think they were rappers) who made him change

Biggie Smalls was a white dude out of Cali that was killed. Pac actually shouts him out on a track in 94 “rest in peace my nikka Biggie Smalls”. He looked like he could have been on 91210 or something. He was decent from a technical standpoint but he was a straight white dude image and all

There was also a dude down south named Notorious B1 who mysteriously used the Juicy sample first.

I put that on Puff though
