Biggie low key took that man’s flow and deader his career afterwards.
Imma keep it reel.

I don’t know if I necessarily agree. I felt like Chubb Rock’s flow was unique and I never got the impression Biggie took it. I look at it more like Chubb Rock was part of the wave of backpack lyricists that never withstood the flossy shiny suit era that took over at the time. He wasn’t a player, or some ex-drug lord serial killer, he was just a fat Jamaican nikka who rapped really well. Unfortunately that wasn’t marketable enough.

I always respected him a lot. Part of the reason I got into rap so much was listening to my mom constantly play Treat Em Right and DU’s Humpty Dance.

KMEL bruh :mjcry:

Those songs got the party started. Had the ladies n fellas hoppin on the dance floor cuttin. The music made u wanna dance inside the house just cleaning, turn on the radio and you heard it all.....A lotta Hammer, Chubb Rock, DU, Heavy D and a lot more out here in the Bay in the early 90s.

Not saying chin is as nice as biggie but if I played Chubb rock and told someone it was unreleased demo tape biggie I bet I could fool alit of nikkas.

Chubb was not a "backpack" dude... he had a fair number of songs that got radio play and were party records in the late-80s/early-90s... he didn't withstand the jiggy era because he had been out for like eight years at that point, took A LOT of time off between albums and was considered old-school by then. He was making upbeat fun music years before that era. For whatever reason, he wasn't making that kinda stuff anymore by the time rap came back around to partying.

Well, the bolded also applies to Biggie as well, perfectly.
He was also a fat Jamaican who rapped really well :yeshrug:

Chubb's issue is similar to KGR's issue where youre so good but not heralded by the public.:francis:

Honestly never got into his music. Respect nonetheless.
