Sure, those things are a part of marriage insofar as they are requirements for the marriage to be recognized as valid by the state. I'm talking about the overarching goal of marriage, generally speaking. For example, "til death do us part" is a common marriage vow, not exactly the kind of vow you'd make to a Hellcat Challenger.

But to your point, 30 years is a long time to be in any relationship, it's longer than many of the posters here have been alive so that definitely counts for something.
